Local Amenities  

The beautiful university and medical town of Antigonish is located just 12 minutes away on a paved road. Due to the large density of professionals, we have many amenities and services, even though the population of the town and county is quite small (about 25,000). We have excellent supermarkets, shopping stores and a number of fine restaurants - including one that was recently voted “Best Restaurant in Nova Scotia”. An excellent fitness center is also available for those who might indulge there once too often!

Unlike many other small towns, our downtown is very much alive – you will have the chance to thank my neighbour, our town planner, for that - with many specialty shops, cafes, restaurants and interesting architecture. Excellent professional repertory theatre runs all summer long and there are often many performances of live Celtic music.

Here are some additional services that I have made available for some of my guests over the years. I’d be happy to try to arrange what it takes to meet your needs. All you have to do is ask.

Food Catering

With prior notice excellent catering services can be arranged or for a local chef to come and cook on site. Large or small parties can be catered for, with food and services to meet all budgets.

Child and Pet Care

At relatively short notice I can arrange for qualified daycare or on-site babysitting. Pets likewise can be taken care of. I’ve also been known to entertain children for hours while their parents escape for a wild night out. Likewise with pets.

Cleaning and Laundry Services

A housemaid is available to come and do a mid-week cleaning and/or laundry service.

Massage

Appointments can be set up in town or, with prior arrangements, a fully-qualified masseur can do a home visit.

Hair Stylist

A local hair-stylist can drive out to your property and attend to all your hair needs.

Photography

An excellent photographer is likewise willing to come out to your property and take those soon-to-be treasured family portraits or baby pictures.
